Are you going to Cozumel, Mexico? Did you know that the majority of diving done in Cozumel is drift diving?

Water movement can have a tremendous effect on your diving experience. This program gives you the skills and knowledge required to conduct dives from shore, in currents, and in different types of waves (the official name of this course is “waves, tides, and currents”).

What you will learn:

  • The planning, organization, procedures, techniques, problems and hazards of drift diving.

  • Special equipment - floats, lines, reels.

  • Proper procedures for buoyancy-control, navigation and communication.

  • Site selection and overview of aquatic currents – causes and effects.

  • Techniques for staying close to a buddy or together as a group.

Prerequisites:

Number of dives: 2.

The required dives for this course must be completed on one of our dive trips. We cannot offer drift diving locally.

Category 1 Specialty

($200 each or any 2 Category 1 Specialties for $300)

Important note:

One of the documents required for this course is the Medical Statement. Depending on your answers to the questionnaire a physician’s release might be required prior to you getting in the water. It is important to read the form ahead of time so you have plenty of time to set a physician’s appointment if necessary. Click HERE to download the form.

Don’t worry if you still are unsure whether a signature is required for your form or not, once you sign the course’s paperwork we will contact you about it if needed. Please remember that the physician’s release must be signed by a DO or MD only - signatures from PA-C, NP, etc. cannot be accepted.
